• Skin cancer diagnosis and treatment
• BOTOX® injections
• Acne treatment

• Treatments for psoriasis and eczema
What is Dermoscopy?
Dermoscopy is a diagnostic technique for examining skin lesions and identifying skin cancers. Dr. Rao uses a device called a dermatoscope that has both a light and a magnifying lens to closely examine suspicious-looking pigmented blemishes. The dermatoscope can come with attachments that enable Dr. Rao to photograph or film the blemish, store the information in a computer, or send it across the internet to a colleague.
What Types of Acne Treatments are Available?
Dr. Rao offers many kinds of acne treatments. The type used will depend on the kind and severity of the acne. For example, mild or moderate acne may be treated with certain topical medications. More severe acne may require oral antibiotics or other measures. Blue light therapy and photodynamic therapy can also help with severe or resistant acne. Blue light therapy works by killing the bacteria that cause the acne. In photodynamic therapy, the patient is also given a topical medicine that increases their skin’s sensitivity to the light. Rao Dermatology also provides many treatments for acne scars, and they include chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, and microdermabrasion, just to name a few.
